Yesterday morning I sort of sat around mystified, watching as my Aunt Trudy prepared the ribs that she was bringing over for my grandmother's 91st birthday dinner.

Good Morning From Moncton
Here's me enjoying the last gasp of sunshine in a taxi on the way to the airport (Mom and I are presently in Canada for my grandmother's 91st birthday).
Spot Dessert Bar / Yuletide Log Shoot
On Wednesday afternoon I swung by the rustic, adorable Spot Dessert Bar (on St. Mark's Place) to film a segment with celebrity chef Pichet Ong (of P*ONG and The Bubble Lounge) in which he taught me how to make a Yuletide Log.
One Of A Kind Show
Last night, my mom and my Aunt Trudy (who's visiting from Canada) checked out the One Of A Kind craft show and said it's great, so I wanted to give you the heads-up in case you're in the NYC area.
The show runs this weekend and next (Thursday-Sunday; click here for more info) and features a wide variety of handcrafted gifts - everything from ceramics to clothing to furniture and accessories. (Mom says the jewelry is on the expensive side, but that there are tons of great, budget-friendly finds.) I'm going!
Tickets are $15; $12 for students and seniors.
I May Need To Own This
I discovered this fiber-optic turkey wreath in my Aunt Trudy's Avon catalog last week, and now I think I may have to own one. Mostly because it is a fiber-optic turkey wreath.
Egg Rings / Sort Of (Not Always) Genius
Over tea one afternoon, Trudy broke out these odd-looking things and asked me if I knew what they were. We deduced they were probably used for something egg-related, and after a little Googling we discovered that they are, in fact, called "egg rings."
Couldn’t Leave Canada Without It
Ramshackle Glam / Three-Card Spread from Jordan Reid on Vimeo.
No trip to Canada is complete without a tarot card reading from my Aunt Trudy, so late last night, after Thanksgiving Dinner #2 at Aunt Jo's, Mom, Trudy and I sat down around the kitchen table with tea and cards.
Wild Nights
Last night, after fried clams and Coors at Morton's Pub, we all headed back to Trudy's for a little carousing. I'm sorry, Mom wants me to say "an evening of music." Fine, an evening of music. And carousing.
See Jordan Shop / Value Village
My mom and Trudy thought they were mind-blowingly hideous, but I love love love the '70s look when it comes to tableware, so there you go. Also, each piece was between 49 and 69 cents, so I also love the fact that I won't cry if one breaks.
