Here Is How To Own The Glasses That Ali Wong Wears In Baby Cobra (Or How To Own My Glasses, Which Are The Same Ones)

Where is that thing I saw that famous person wearing?

I can count on one hand the times that I've seen something a celebrity is wearing and needed to own it to the extent that I would actually sit down at the computer and do the requisite research.

I did a little mental inventory of said times, and - surprise, surprise - it turns out that most of them involved things behind which I can hide my face.

#KissKiss

I put these images up on my Instagram today as part of a collaboration with Chapstick (featuring their Total Hydration Moisture + Tint that is the perrrrrrfect balance of moisture and sheer color, and their lip scrub, which is making my ludicrously dry lips much, much happier these days). They make me happy and I'm missing this guy today, so I wanted to put them here, too. (Also, have any other parents noticed that once you have children you never again have a photo of just the two of you? Like, ever? It's kinda nice that once in awhile I my job gives me an excuse to take one.)

Just Go Buy This Jacket OK?

This one.

I went to the mall the other day for a very specific reason: to get a new prescription from Lenscrafters, because I feel like my eyes are becoming increasingly decrepit and it's time for new glasses.

I was NOT there to shop. I am 99% done with my Christmas shopping because that is literally the one thing in my life that I am always spectacularly on top of, and I am broke from house renovations, and besides: actually shopping in shopping malls gives me a headache (I prefer to visit them for the purpose of sitting in a dark room for a couple of hours with the biggest bucket of popcorn possible). And I REALLY was not there to shop at Hollister, because Hollister stores make me feel old (whyyyyyyyy must the music be so loud?).

I Designed My Own Engagement Ring (Using Jewelry I Already Had)

My beloved circa 2006 Las Vegas pawn shop ring

I love my engagement ring. It's one of my the very few things, including children and dogs (and, okay, Kendrick, but only on a good day) I would save from a house fire. (Sidenote: A few weeks ago, it seemingly vanished into the ether. I'm stopping myself from panicking with the assumption that it was taken off of my nightstand by one of my kids, and will turn up eventually in some completely unexpected and bizarre location, like what happened this other time I lost some very special jewelry.)

Anyway. I love it. But I also...kind of always wanted a ring-ring. Is that obnoxious?? Not a solitaire, and not anything wildly expensive - just something that was exactly the style and color and design I envisioned. I also had this vague idea that I wanted to design something myself, but that seemed like an insanely pricey proposition, between buying the stones and working with a jeweler to create a custom piece. I mean, who does that?!

Oh, Mother

Mother Cropped Jeans | Free People Thermal

I've gotten pretty dramatic and personal with my posts this week. So today, let's lighten things up and just talk about clothing. OK?

First, let's talk about those Mother jeans. I've been circling various pairs of jeans from the brand forever - they're always so great, but also so expensive that it's hard to pull the trigger - but then I was in Carmel for the day, and Kendrick took our children to an ice cream parlor and then to the park so I could have a second to "just pop in" to a really cute boutique (you know "just to take a peek"), and then all of a sudden it was twenty minutes later and the absence of children (and the profound silence that followed) had forced me to own a pair of Mother jeans.
