Let’s help out reader Kristen Rose!

“I’ve been engaged for almost two years, and we have been putting off having a wedding until I graduate, which I’ll be doing in May (I’m a senior at Harvard). Unfortunately, my grandfather was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, and we’re not sure how bad it is or how long he’ll be with us. All I’ve wanted is for my grandparents to be at my wedding. The unfortunate part is that I’m still in school and have no money, my fiance is a grad student and has no money, and we’d have to plan a wedding in like 3 months. However, I did find a contest on Crate & Barrel to win a $100,000 dream wedding…”

After the D’Artagnan event, I headed uptown to my new favorite sushi joint, Amber, to meet Casey of CaseyCulture for a little sushi and a lot of gossip. She is a BLAST.

On Casey’s recommendation, I tried a spicy scallop roll for the first time. I was picturing something rubbery and…well…bad, but it was totally smooth and delicious.

(Like Casey’s off-the-shoulder sweater? She actually declared that she was “pulling a Jordan”!)

OK. So Julia and Randi’s birthday party is this Friday, and…I’m having a little bit of a tough time figuring out what in the world I’m going to wear. I feel like I’m a bit too disheveled-looking to pull off “preppy”…and my closet isn’t exactly bursting with pink and white. Also, NonSociety is very generously taking me to San Fran for a few days starting on Saturday for Julia and Randi’s Party #2 and a bunch of meetings (nervous!), which means…I have to come up with two entire pink-and-white outfits.

Here’s the sum total of the even semi-appropriate items I have in my closet:

- A salmon-and-white striped Ralph Lauren button-down.

- A grey schoolgirl-type miniskirt that I wore as a Halloween costume when I was a senior in high school.
