Yesterday afternoon I wandered around the Union Square Farmers Market for a bit before heading over to City Bakery (way too crowded, but incredible hot chocolate with oversized marshmallows) to meet Liz for some tea. On spring and summer weekends, the Union Square Market is the perfect date spot: we like to spend hours browsing the stands, planning the night’s dinner based on what we find (and maybe picking up some seasonal flowers). The primary offerings yesterday were apples and cider, but I could see the beginnings of spring starting to pop up (yay!).

I couldn’t resist buying some of that gorgeous-looking fresh mozzarella, and immediately spooned it over some tomatoes when I got home (with, um, a steak on the side…I was starrrving). It was creamy, salty, and buttery: perfect.

I don’t really like plays, and I definitely don’t really like musicals.

I LOVE Hair. Love love love. Last night I took my mom to see the Broadway production as an early birthday present, and within five minutes the lead (hello, cute) had crawled into the audience to plant a big kiss on me (and, OK, a bunch of other people). The cast was beyond spectacular - especially Sasha Allen, whose voice in the final song had me in tears. And dancing wildly with my mom on stage to “Age of Aquarius” with the cast members was something I’ll remember forever.

Kisses, crying and dancing? Now, that’s my kind of show.
