Links & Love & Stuff

Truth. (Follow my Daily Inspiration board on Pinterest here.)

Link roundup today because my head is completely fried from adding the full-time job that is finding a new place to regular day-to-day work and kid stuff. I don’t even watch Friday Night Lights anymore; I pretend to watch it while actually scrolling through endless API scores and inspection reports and Google Earth views of streets I’ve never stood on. Sigh. I’ll be back, Tim Riggins. I’ll be back.

:) Look, you can totally wear a sports bra in public! Like, to a fancy restaurant! (I’d totally wear this one in public. Love it.)

:) Really interesting article on fearmongering and psuedoscience on the internet. I’m not familiar with this girl so I don’t have much of an opinion on her specifically, but this kind of thing makes me nuts when I encounter it IRL. (The “Food Babe” Blogger Is Full Of Shit, via Gawker.)

:) God I adore this rug. God do I not need to buy a rug right now. …But maybe you do?

:) I’m hosting a small garden party to celebrate Caldrea’s new Basil Blue Sage scent this weekend, and as part of the decor I ordered a bunch of floral wreaths off of Etsy to decorate…my head. And my friend’s heads. I mention this because in preparation for this purchase I did a completely bizarre and unnecessary amount of research, and am now sort of qualified to say that these are a really good buy, if you’re in the market for a floral head wreath (hey, apparently a whole lot of people are because there are a whole lot of them for sale out there).

:) I made a new friend, Jess, who is the coolest chick ever, and who runs a site that is (almost) as cool as she is. Folk Rebellion preaches the importance of taking time to step away from the virtual world and into the real one: they talk resurrecting the Family Dinner (no cell phones!), and meditation, and have a general store filled with very cool stuff (my favorites: the Stay Curious Stay Human tee and the Analog as Folk muscle tank, both pictured above).

:) Oooo I love persnickety grammar rules (39 Incorrectly Used Words That Can Make You Look Bad, via LinkedIn.) And as an aside, if you are similarly grammar-obsessed you have to read Eats, Shoots and Leaves. It’s awesomely dorky and also just plain awesome.

:) The best curling iron I’ve found, and it’s totally drugstore-level affordable (get it in 1″ or 1 1/2″ if you have long hair and want beachy waves, 3/4″ if you have a bob and want some bend).

:) Noooo. (Famed Pearl River Mart In SoHo Will Close Its Doors, via Crain’s.) P.S. Click here to see the Jordan In The House segment I shot there way back in the day.

:) I’ve started drinking a glass of prosecco at night in place of my glass of wine, and I kind of love it. It feels celebratory, and a champagne glass on your bedside table is very fa la la, in a fun way.

:) Please, Hillary? …Please? (Is Hillary Any Good At Running For President?, via NY Mag.)

:) Jeremy Scott’s collection for Adidas is amazing and extremely weird. I don’t get where one would wear a pair of gold sneakers with wings, but I do enjoy the Icarus reference and think they’re fun to look at.

:) Speaking of sneakers, if you’re in the market for a good classic ’70s-ish pair, I really like these.

:) I’m sorry, but I’m all thinking that it is NOT POSSIBLE for me to love Michelle Obama more. And then she goes and does this. (Michelle Obama Breaks It Down At Easter Egg Roll, via CNN.)

:) Here is a video of a baby elephant trying to climb into a bathtub. You’re welcome.
