Like A Polka-Dotted Strawberry
Nothing more fun than shopping your mom's closet...especially when your mom has a penchant for red minidresses, too.
Spring Will Arrive, Even If I Have To Drag It Here Kicking And Screaming
And if what I have to do to make this happen is wear shorts in fifty-degree weather...well, so be it. The power of positive thinking and all that jazz.
Those Old Things
Packing - which, to me, translates to How Much Stuff Can I Possibly Get Rid Of And Still Live My Life - is, weirdly enough, one of my favorite things to do. The fact that anything that you don't toss or give away will have to be packed up and lugged long distances and then unpacked again is a pretty good motivator to force you to get rid of all that excess baggage, and also: it's just fun to go through all your things. Trips down memory lane and such.
I spent the weekend going through my closets and bringing bag after bag to Goodwill (PSA: if you're into thrifting, you should probably take a little trip up to the Elmsford Goodwill, because I dropped off some VERY good stuff), and rediscovered some old favorites that haven't seen the light of day in several years…and so I thought I'd break 'em out for our dinner with friends at a Chinese place in Hartsdale (we went despite the unfortunate name - Fantasy Cuisine - because of the Times review and because oooo soup dumplings).

One Dress, Three Different Personas
To me, what qualifies something as a “really great find” isn’t just how it looks or makes me feel…it’s how it allows me to express myself. My mood doesn’t necessarily stay the same from day to day; it can run the gamut from “confident” to “romantic” to “relaxed” based on what’s going on in my head and on my schedule. A study by T.J.Maxx found that many other women out there feel the same: nearly 3 out of 4 women agree that they dress to fit their mood.
Some pieces – like this bright designer dress I found at T.J.Maxx – do it all and can easily fit into different scenarios in my everyday life.
Initially, I didn’t think of this dress as particularly versatile; I sort of categorized it as “cocktail party” or “bridal/baby shower” attire. But I like the shape so much that I kind of want to wear it everywhere...so I started playing around with accessories (all in wearable shades of black, white and tan) and discovered that with just a few little tweaks this dress can go from work to date night to Saturday brunch, and the possibilities for me to express my personal style are endless.
Hiking Gear
Not really.
But the path near our house also isn't really a "hike" - more like an amble - so that's OK.
Let's talk about vests for a second. I never understood (or wore) vests until recently; I didn't really get the point. They seemed fussy, and extraneous, and whenever I was wearing one I felt like Vest Girl. Like if a friend were describing me to someone I'd met briefly at a party they'd be like, "Remember the girl in the vest? Her."
Wedding Wear: Sequins In The Woods
When I posted a picture of what I wore to Stephen and Dave's wedding on Instagram, reader Olivia wrote back "Are you wearing a bralet to a wedding?"
Hamptons Super Saturday, Oh Yes
With torrential thunderstorms rolling through every so often and such high humidity that you could almost pet the air, the stylists decided to go to town with gorgeously wild - and rain-proof - updos and braids.
Broke Tusk. Am Sad.
You know that horn thing I wear all the time?
How-To: Wear Boyfriend Jeans
The key when wearing a slouchy pair of jeans, of course, is to keep the rest of your outfit neat so it doesn't look like you were just painting your house or something.
