10 Statement Jackets You Need To See

This jacket by The Great is called “The Short Monster.” I feel like that’s all you really need to know about it. (OK, also maybe you should know that it’s alpaca knitted in such a way that the shag looks almost like fringe and would look AMAZING with faded, distressed denim.)

Sometimes all you need is an incredible shape to make a jacket completely statement-making. And not only is the shape of this leather topper insanely cool…it’s also way oversized, like you borrowed a coat from the coolest boyfriend ever. I’ve never seen anything like this. Obsessed.

Omgoodness, this poncho – embroidered, with fringe swishing around the bottom hem – is perfection. It’s also very expensive (albeit on sale). This one is similar-ish in vibe and much more reasonable.

To call this a “bomber jacket” is a little bit of a misnomer, because in my experience bomber jackets don’t tend to have silk Bengal tigers and the words “L’Aveugle Par Amour” embroidered on them. They should, though.

I’m not only not sure who in the world could pull this off…I’m not even sure what it is. But I feel like any post about statement jackets would be sorely lacking without a little hot-pink Mongolian lamb.
