Style

But One Button

This is not my torso. It is my friend Francesca’s. You may have already suspected this for the following reasons:

1. The presence of a tendril of long brown hair, as opposed to a tuft of seriously-in-need-of-some-cut-and-color blondish bob;

2. Non-horrifying nails that extend beyond the tip of the finger, are not possessed of a series of chips so extreme that they venture into avant garde territory, and that have visibly made contact with a nail file sometime in the past week;

3. A shirt that has been deliberately closed with only a single button. Because if you were to see me in a shirt buttoned only once, it would look far less elegant than it does here, because it would be by mistake. And you also wouldn’t see it, because I tend not to take photographs of myself dressed in a way that is by mistake (only sometimes). But what Francesca wore out to our steak frites-and-shopping dinner date – a simple outfit, but styled in an unexpected way – looked so chic that I wanted to show it to you.

P.S. If you like the red lip pictured here, it’s NARS Red Square. And just speaking of red lipstick, if you’re in search of a completely perfect one that goes with virtually any skin tone, this (in Heat Wave) is my personal recommendation. It’s great. Everyone should have it.
