One Shirt, Three Ways

When it comes to investing in a piece that you can wear over and over (and over), there’s nothing like a good striped shirt. I look for tops that are lightweight and not-too-tight…but whatever your personal favorite fit is, once you find it in striped-shirt form you can take it everywhere.

For example:

For a day of shopping and errands, try pairing a striped top with neon cuffed jeans, a graphic black-and-white tote, and pointy-toe flats (you can’t see them in this shot, but I’m wearing these in black)…

For a warm-weather brunch with friends, keep things casual with super-bright cutoffs and a fringe-y bag…

…And for the office, try mixing your stripes into a black-and-white look and adding one pop-of-color accessory.

Look 2: Sold Denim Lab shorts; Foley & Corinna Woven Circle Tote (similar).

Look 3: Ann Taylor blazer and pants; Cole Haan pumps (on sale).

For those of you who were interested in which camera/lenses I use, these photos are examples of what the kit lens (the lens that comes with the camera) does – they were taken while my 50mm was being repaired. See how they’re kinda snapshot-y in comparison to these (which were taken with my 50mm)?

A good lens makes a big difference.
