Perfect Brown Boots For Spring

Q. Jordan,

I’m on the hunt for a pair of brown boots that will last. I’m moving to LA this summer and I’m a college student..so my dream choice of the Frye Melissa Button Boot will have to wait! It’s starting to feel like my search for a black leather jacket – rather futile.

Do you have any suggestions?

A. I agree: a really great pair of brown boots is a total must-own; you can wear they all year ’round, and they look good with everything.

That’s my own personal perfect pair (pictured above with my go-to pregnancy tank dress from H&M); they’re Steve Madden’s “Roady” style and are no longer available…but they’re popular enough that the company has reissued them in the past, so you never know.

Here are a few more styles I like, all below $200 (they range from $40 for the pair on the top left to $160 for the pair on the lower right; product info here).

In terms of longevity…if what you’re looking for is a pair that’ll last, I’d say skip over the faux leather pairs and go for the real stuff. It’s more expensive, but for a boot that will literally never go out of style, it’s worth it.

While we’re on the topic of brown boots: have to say, while riding boots are a total classic, what I’m really into at the moment are lace-up combat boots. I don’t own any…but if I did, here’s how I’d wear ’em (product info here):

One last thing: speaking of black leather jackets…here you go. 🙂
