All Around Town

I spent yesterday running all over the city to meetings and events, and needed a look that would work from morning to evening, but still be respectably comfortable and (at least semi-) practical.

What I went with: a cozy knit sweater (topped with a Tahari peacoat, because brrr), enormous flares, fleecy UGG platforms, and a bag big enough to tote along my computer and camera and scarf and toasted coconut from the Nuts 4 Nuts stand outside Grand Central and everything else I could possibly need.

1. Juicy Couture Cora Turtleneck ($168): This sweater is very “Oh, me? I just popped off the slopes an hour ago”…and is cozy enough to keep you toasty even in the depths of winter (yet not bulky at all).

2. Foley & Corinna Jet Set Tote in Black ($495; other colors are on sale): A classic, beautifully made tote that’ll last forever, and never go out of style.

3. Giles & Brother Petal Earrings ($115): Casual enough for day, fancy enough for night, and especially gorgeous with a loose updo.

4. Shiseido Luminizing Lip Gloss in Cafe Creme ($22): A perfect neutral to pair with smoky eyes; also has a moisturizing formula to protect against chapped lips.

5. UGG Georgette Ankle Boot ($175 on sale): I own the Celestina platforms, which I love (and wore yesterday), but the Georgette’s sheepskin cuff and stacked heel are even better for winter.

6. Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System ($185): My first stop of the day yesterday was at the W Magazine holiday event, where I got to try out the Clarisonic Opal. I wandered around for the rest of the day with beautifully de-puffed eyes (honestly, if you’ve never tried this thing out, you have to: it applies anti-aging serum to your undereye area with a vibrating motion that feels amazing, and also helps to maximize product absorption).

7. Aveda Stress-Fix Body Lotion ($11): Lavender scent + essential oils = straight into the handbag.

8. Hudson Mia Flare ($209): I mean, I buy my jeans at TJ Maxx…because they have the exact same name brands, for so much less (I think I paid in the ballpark of $60 for the 7 For All Mankind pair I’m wearing above). But these Hudsons are cute, too.
