Easy (And Inexpensive) Holiday Decor

Hosting a party this weekend? This week’s JITH segment features a few easy, inexpensive ways to dress up your table. It also features Kendrick, who’s turned into my official guest videographer thanks to the fact that the weather has been leaving us homebound way too often over the past couple of weeks (we filmed this one in the aftermath of that crazy snowstorm).

– Use found items from your yard (pinecones, leaves, etc) for easy (and free) decorations. Bonus points if you add glitter! (Click here to learn how to make the DIY Scented Glitter Pinecones pictured above.)

– Flowers are a fortune, but you don’t need to go overboard: just a couple of branches of red berries in a tall vase will add instant color. And you know those gorgeous silver-and-gold branches you see in stores? Yard. Spray paint. Go.

– Easiest-ever centerpiece: just grab a smallish mirror from anywhere in your house (that’s our bathroom mirror, pictured above) and top with a couple of pillar candles.

– Speaking of candles: for entertaining I prefer flameless votives (these are great – and affordable). If you go for the real thing, just make sure they’re unscented so that the smell doesn’t compete with the food.

– Add fun little extras where you can, like bowls of peppermint bark scattered through your home.

– A handful of thematic additions to your tablescape go a long way: for my holiday table, I just mix festive salad plates (Noritake China’s Holly and Berry Gold) and a couple of seasonal serving dishes into my regular stuff (Noritake China’s Rochelle Gold set).

After the jump, a full list of the products featured in this video (all from Noritake China).
