Weekend Snapshots: Road Trip To Maine

This weekend, we road-tripped it up to Sebago Lake for the wedding of two of our best friends, Stephen and Dave. We were a little anxious – I’m actually presently reading a book called Sh*tty Mom (it’s the funniest thing ever, please read it), and the very first chapter is titled “Road Trip with Your Kids: Multiply How Bad You Think It Will Be by a Thousand, Then Add Ten Million.”

It actually wasn’t that bad.

Oh, except for the fact that we got rear-ended half an hour in.

That sucked. (We were fine.)

But Indy was totally chilled-out and awesome, once we established that DJ Lance Rock and friends needed to be present and accounted for 100% of the time.

We were kind of in a rush to get there – we were already arriving  hours later than most of our friends – so we abandoned the original plan to stop for dinner in Boston and instead hit up India Tavern, somewhere in the middle of a parking lot.

We arrived to discover the very best welcome gift ever, courtesy of Kings County Distillery (owned by a couple of our friends).

The next day it was overcast and misty, so we took advantage.

Did you know that babies (especially babies who don’t encounter fireplaces in their day-to-day lives) are desperate to hurl themselves into the flames?

They are.

And so that was a short-lived experiment. Fun while it lasted, though.

More on Migis Lodge, where we stayed, coming up – but it was paradise. All the very best parts of camping, but with king-sized beds and clawfoot tubs instead of tents and misery.

The best part of the wedding, food-wise: always that very first post-ceremony glass of champagne and hors d’oeuvre.

Look at that cake!

And the trip back went smoothly as well, involving books, naps, and a stop in New Haven for our beloved Pepe’s Pizza.
