Mercedes-Benz Concept Car Unveiling Party

Random thing for me to get invited to, right?

But it makes more sense than one might think: I was invited, along with a few of my buddies, because we were part of that Fashion Force campaign back during Fashion Week. And good thing, because holy, was last night ever a good time. I basically just walked around and stared at gorgeous cars, hung out with my friends, and ate like I was at a fancy wedding.

As you can see, I was pretty psyched about my outfit, because I’ve been in one version of another of my glamorous sweatpants attire for the past couple of weeks (what can I say? I’ve been working away like a very busy bee, but all of said work has been taking place while firmly planted on my couch). It felt amazing to put on a dress (a $19.99 off-the-shoulder sweaterdress from Daffy’s) and super-high heels for an evening. And even more amazing to not have to walk to the subway in said heels (Mercedes-Benz provided lucky us with car service to and fro).

Close-up on my shoes, because they deserve one:

They’re Betsey Johnson, via Peppermint Park, and have hot pink bedazzled soles. Love them. I’ve never owned nude heels before…but yes, the rumors are true: they make your legs look millions of miles long.

Re: Peppermint Park, I believe you can still click here to sign up and use code RSG for two months’ free membership, but one note: you need to cancel your membership after those two months if you don’t want to start paying – I believe that your account transforms from gratis to paid automatically. But that said, I still would recommend giving it a try – it’s hit-and-miss, as with any discount Internet site (I had the wrong size shoes arrive once, and my girlfriend had a shirt arrive with a small hole near the hem), but you just can’t beat the prices, and to me that much of a discount is worth a little risk.

My makeup (apologies for dramatic gazing-in-the-mirror photo) was inspired by this month’s edition of Allure: apparently two big runway trends were petal-pink lipstick (in my case, Carmex Moisture Plus in Sheer Pink) and strong blush (NARS Deep Throat is my go-to lately). I’ve been feeling like doing a slightly cleaner (notice the lack of liner along the lower rim?), healthier, more flushed look lately…so: presto!

Two more products I’ve been using and loving: Alterna Bamboo Kendi Dry Oil Mist on my hair (since Keratin won’t be happening for a few months) and fake lashes from Revlon that I chop up into 1/4″ pieces and apply only to the outer corners of my eyes. Just FYI.

(Ay, the fingerprint smudges on the mirror. Sorry, Mom! I swear, you could only see them with the flash…and I went running for the Windex immediately after checking out these photos.)

Dinner included this lovely little salad: ricotta, arugula, pesto, and heirloom tomato. Had it been about ten thousand times larger, it would have been perfect, but I made do with the twenty other courses.

Here’s the car that was unveiled at the event. I wish I had more to say about this other than “Pretty!”…but…I know nothing about cars, except that I am bad at driving them.

And finally, I ran into these two handsome gentlemen – my Better TV buddy Felix and Dr. Mauro Romita, whom I’ve interviewed for RG before and who runs the fantastic Ajune medi-spa (they do everything from facials to Botox to anti-cellulite massage) – and jumped around a bit in joy.
