Tracking at Better

I spent the morning in this very glamorous spot behind the soundstage at BetterTV, recording audio (“tracking”) for the Barcelo promos I shot in Cabo a few weeks ago. Basically, each spot has a “script” (written by the producer, the talent, or sometimes both), and sometimes after the shoot wraps the producer realizes that she’d like a little more audio content. That’s where tracking comes in: maybe there’s a moment where the original sound was unclear, or maybe the cameraman took some stunning shots of a restaurant, and they want me to describe it in a voiceover…that kind of thing.

Oddly enough, this is one of my favorite things to do – it’s such a calming experience, sitting in a tiny booth with no one (well, at least no one you can see) judging you, just reading your script. When you’re on camera, there are so many things that can go wrong – everything from forgetting your lines to having your hair blow into your lip gloss – but in the sound booth, it’s just you and your microphone.

(That dress, by the way, was in the gift bag at last night’s event – it’s LOGO, and I wore it with a vintage Habitual jean jacket and my aunt’s vintage turquoise belt, which you unfortunately can’t see here).
