The problems with getting to check out this year’s Sunset Magazine Silicon Valley Idea House are the following:
a) It is actually, literally perfect, and the ideal blend of design and function.
b) It makes you want to pack up your current house and move into this one immediately.
c) It makes you sad when you realize that yes, it is actually for sale – but no, you cannot buy it.
Oh, well. A tour is the next best thing – and Samsung invited me to check out the house, which is completely customized with their to-die-for kitchen and laundry appliances. Remember my space-age style Samsung FlexWash + FlexDry washer/dryer set? These are in the Sunset Idea House too, along with a full suite of Chef Collection appliances in the kitchen.
When I installed the FlexWash + FlexDry, it gave my laundry room a much-needed refresh, without having to embark on an entire room reno (because goodness knows I’ve done enough of those lately) – and the same mentality is applied to the laundry room in the Sunset Idea House laundry room. The design of the room is elegant to begin with, but the washer and dryer provide the perfect, elevated finishing touch that anyone with endless piles of laundry (a.k.a. all of us) would covet.
Also, can we PLEASE talk about the matte black situation? I love me some stainless steel – but aren’t you kind of sick of seeing the exact same finish in every kitchen, everywhere? I’m obsessed with the look of these Samsung matte-black appliances in the house, along with the fact that they wouldn’t show every single little snack-seeking fingerprint.
Now, a few more factoids about the appliances in the house that are getting me all aflutter (ssh, you know you get fluttery about appliances, too):
The Chef Collection fridge not only keeps your food fresh, but looks spectacular while doing its job. You can customize the design in matte black stainless steel or stainless steel so that it seamlessly blends in with your existing cabinetry and countertop – no full-kitchen redo required. The various cooling functions also help you maintain your produce and reduce freezer burn, and the View Inside cameras let you see what’s inside your fridge from your phone (I KNOW).
The Chef Collection Gas Cooktop is another dream find: The powerful burners offer flexible temperature control, and the complementary Bluetooth-enabled hood can communicate with the stove and be turned on/off as needed from the cooktop, in case something starts smoking (again: I KNOW. Aflutter). The purpose of the collection is to nurture the aspiring chef in all of us – even if we’re not quiiiite the experts we plan to be yet.
And! And and and: The Microwave Combination Oven has FlexDuo – a divider that can split up your oven into two separate chambers so you can cook two separate dishes at different temperatures. #Amazing.
(More pics of the house are below…it’s gorgeous).
