A new eye makeup look I'm into lately (inspired by some fantastic new product discoveries).

Try This Weekend: A Twiggy-Ish Twist On The Cat-Eye
Just a little idea for your next night out: this odd little alternative to the traditional cat eye.
It's a super-simple twist on standard winged liner, with a little essence de Twiggy thrown in there (for those of you who are mere babes, Twiggy was a '60s model who famously drew her lower eyelashes on). What you do to create this effect: apply liquid eyeliner as you normally would, from inner to outer corner with a little flick pointed up towards your temple. Then add a second, slightly smaller flick from the corner of your eye out towards your ear, and then a third very small flick just below that, pointing down towards your jawline.
Black French Manicure For Halloween
Ooh, I love this look. It's basically a mashup between a black manicure and a traditional French manicure, and works with pretty much any costume…but is still elegant enough to go to the office on Monday morning.

This Old Thing
I write a lot about the stuff I wore in high school. I wore everything from chartreuse prom dresses from the ‘50s, not-quite-right overalls, Salvation Army pajamas, and for-real witch's robes, and it was all very confusing-looking…but the fact that it was confusing-looking makes sense; I was confused. About who I was and what I wanted, and a lot of that came out through what I wore.
I probably wouldn’t throw on a neon ball gown “just because” these days (although you never know), but I always think it’s interesting when I notice that despite just how different everything in my life is now, so many of the things I loved two decades ago are still hanging around.
Whoa.
Coming Up Roses
Favorite new rose-colored finds for spring (clockwise from top left):
Elizabeth Arden Gloss in Rose Creme (pretty and natural alone; sheer and glossy over lipstick); NARS shadow in Abyssinia (perfect pale shade for all over lids); Elizabeth Arden Lipstick in Pale Petal (very mod, great pinky-neutral for all skin tones); Essie Polish in Fun In The Gondola; NARS Matte Multiple in Anguilla (a matte shade for cheeks and lips).
Superbowl Party Beauty Tips
I don't like football.
I do, however, like parties. And food. And beer. And wacky commercials featuring Alec Baldwin. So I can totally tolerate the Superbowl, because I can more or less ignore the whole throwing-a-ball part of it in favor of diving face-first into a table filled with adorably thematic hors d’oeuvres.

Thanksgiving Dinner Beauty Tips…And More
Sure, Thanksgiving is all about a cozy afternoon at home with your family (and hopelessly cheesy sitting-in-front-of-the-fireplace photos, of course)…but there’s no reason why you have to spend the whole day rolling around in pajamas (that’s for the day after Thanksgiving).

Extra Eye Makeup And Simple Solutions
During Fashion Week - because hey, I don't get out of the woods all that often these days, so I have to take every opportunity I get to do it up - I went big, and even switched up my regular brown-and-black look with some serious color
