Bliss Fabulips Event

At last night's Bliss event over at the W on Lex, with Casey (whose company was hosting). The event was held to celebrate the release of the Fabulips Treatment Kit, which is basically a mini-facial for, yes, your lips (it's offered as an add-on to any facial treatment at Bliss Spas, or you can purchase the products at Sephora).

These tomato tartlets have nothing to do with lips or spa treatments, but were so weirdly delicious that I had to show them to you anyway. They're just little cracker cups filled with diced tomatoes, mint, cheese, and a couple of seed (or maybe nut?) things...but whoa, good. You can make your own mocked-up version by piling some diced tomatoes, finely sliced mint leaves, and some mild shredded cheese onto a regular old store-bought cracker.

Dr. Martens “First & Forever” Campaign

I spent Friday morning at an event that cannot be described as anything other than "hip." I hate the word "hip"; it makes me feel like, I don't know, Amy Poehler in Mean Girls or something...but there's really no better word for the preview of the new Dr. Martens campaign starring Agyness Deyn and Ash Stymest (below). It was at the Morrison Hotel, was hosted by Scott Schuman and Garance Doré (both really lovely people who offered up some great advice for bloggers), and featured a menu of...peach schnapps (and mini cups of granola-sprinkled acai berry smoothie for me). At 9AM.

The First and Forever campaign is based on the idea that everyone remembers their first pair of Dr. Martens, and presumably the schnapps was present to get attendees into the mood for sharing their own "firsts" (things got very intimate very quickly), with guests offering up stories about everything from first dates to first jail stints. Fun fun.

Now: the shoes!

Ugg Collection Preview

Last night, I attended the launch of the Ugg Collection, the new high-end line from your favorite cozy-boots brand (at left, I'm with Jaimen and Sara...which is where I stayed all evening, because it was such a very, very fun place to be).

I'm going to request a pass on the general dishevelment (and the Hunters) - I'd been running around in the pouring rain all day and only managed to get it together to purchase an umbrella from a street stand around six...which, if you're in NYC, you know is exactly when the rain stopped. Groovy.

The new collection from Ugg is their foray into upscale-land...and it's a successful one. The shoes and bags are expensive, for sure (footwear starts at $495; handbags start at $650), but they combine luxe details with rugged glamour beautifully, and are just perfect for fall.
