Click over to Hope & Grace to check out an interview in which I talk whether I “always knew” I wanted to be a mom, judgy strangers, that time I gave birth and totally lost it at my husband and mom, and (much) more.

Aquazzura is KILLING IT with the tasseled shoes lately. (These are my favorites and I would like to wear them every day all spring and summer except I won’t because children.)

FYI: Ferndell artisanal coffee (the company dates back to 1862) is HELLA good (and has a swoon-worthy Instagram page).

Big thanks to Laura for finding a way more affordable version of that gorgeous off-the-shoulder denim blouse I wrote about a couple of weeks ago. It’s from Free People, and it is here.

“Coffee is mandatory and wine is delicious.” Concur. Here’s some excellent news for your Tuesday morning. (Coffee Reverses Alcohol Damage, Proving Moms Know What The Hell They’re Doing, via Scary Mommy.)

Are you in the Chicago area at the end of May? You are SO LUCKY. Because there is going to be a Ferris Fest – a “Leisure Weekend” with a screening, musical guests, location tours and more – to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. OMG.

Please watch 106-year-old Virginia McLaurin fulfill her dream of visiting the White House and meeting President Obama. Oh please watch it.

BabyGap heart-shaped sunglasses on a toddler girl

Your toddler probably needs these sunglasses. And this ridiculously adorable polka dot dress (layer a long-sleeved shirt and tights under it now; wear it solo when it warms up).

A friend of mine – actually the friend who organized the very first panel discussion I participated in, wayyyyyy back when – started a Kickstarter to fund a new doll series created as a competitor to American Girls, with smart, ambitious, opinionated characters. Check it out here.

Related, in today’s Bizarre Yet Strangely Compelling Kickstarters: here is a company that is raising funds to design cat-scratching posts shaped like political figures. (I’m a little confused as to whether buying the figure means you support them or would like to see your cat slowly destroy them.)

La Roche-Posay (one of my favorite skincare brands) just released a new product targeting dark under-eye circles.

So check out these “shocking” photos of “Monster Mom” Charlize Theron dragging her tantruming four-year-old to the car, a.k.a. photographs of what every mom everywhere looks like after a trip to Bed Bath & Beyond (via OK Magazine, who should be ashamed of themselves for perpetuating this level of mom judgment.)

Someone – or maybe a lot of people – are going to get hurt if this is allowed to continue. (Donald Trump’s Nasty Rhetoric About the Media is Getting Dangerous, via Washington Post.)

Oversized gold peace sign pendant necklace from glam camp

Wearing every day lately: this oversized peace-sign pendant necklace. (Buy it on glam | camp here.)

My friend Andrea Dunlop’s debut novel, Losing the Light, is out today! Check out Lilit Marcus’ article on the book (and the dark side of studying abroad generally) for Hello Giggles here.

“We must chuck the insidious language of fear (Be careful! That’s too scary!) and instead use the same terms we offer boys, of bravery and resilience. We need to embolden girls to master skills that at first appear difficult, even dangerous. And it’s not cute when a 10-year-old girl screeches, ‘I’m too scared.'”(Why Do We Teach Our Girls That It’s Cute To Be Scared?, via NY Times.)

I’ve been toying with the idea of having our kids share a room while they’re still little mostly because it sounds fun and bond-building. I hadn’t thought of the “a 5-year-old’s whisper can be heard at the back of Carnegie Hall” problem. (10 Things That Will Go Wrong When a Kid and a Baby Share a Room, via Mom.me.)

This NY Times article explores the “phenomenon” (not a phenomenon) of wealthy parents buying NYC apartments for their recent graduates to live in and charging them an “affordable” rent. “She grew up in a nice house,” said one father. “She hadn’t experienced life that way.” Oh god, that quote is bad. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, though, I get why the parents do it – presumably because they’re worried about their kids and knowing they’re living in a safe building makes them feel better – and I certainly get why the kids accept it. But still: ummmmmmmmm. (My Parents, My Landlords, via NY Times.)

I kind of hate the new Kendall & Kylie collection. This blouse is okay though.

See Eyewear oversized eyeglasses frames on Jordan Reid

So my beloved Tom Ford glasses broke. I am sad. But when I was in NYC I stopped into a See Eyewear and found these, which are close enough to the original but still something a little different…so I feel a little better. (Mostly because soon I will be able to see again.)
