I discovered this bronzer-and-blush duo on Francesca’s makeup table and fell in love. Mostly love that you can get it at the drugstore (or here) for around $25.

Madewell’s gift guide is a good one, if you’re looking to get an early (well, earlyish) start.

I’ve been following Yale’s Halloween Costume Drama obsessively. It highlights so much of exactly what’s wrong with activist culture today. (The New Intolerance Of Student Activism, via The Atlantic.)

Heartbreaking. Also so important to read. (Kindness for Tyshawn After Unimaginable Cruelty, via Chicago Tribune.)

This video breaks down what, exactly, is going on with ISIS and Syria. (Syria’s War: A Five-Minute History, via Ezra Klein.)

“I also mourn for those killed mere hours before Paris crumbled into chaos, in strikingly similar attacks in Beirut. I mourn the hundreds of thousands displaced or killed in Syria, no matter their pledged allegiance. No matter their professed religion. No matter.” I don’t know that I’d ever call empathy – no matter how unfortunately expressed (via hashtags and flag Facebook photo overlays and such) – “embarrassing,” but still: this article is a worthwhile read. It’s ALL heartbreaking. All of it. Let’s not forget that. (America: Your Solidarity with Paris is Embarrassingly Misguided, via The Mind Unleashed.)

Gray Malin's San Francisco nude beach print over a wood console

FYI: If you’ve been eyeing a Gray Malin print for awhile (his San Francisco Nude Beach is pictured above), they’re doing free framing site-wide this week.

This sweater is a great color and a great shape (cropped, with over-long sleeves). I tried it on and deemed it too expensive, but maybe you’re in the market for a splurge.

You’re dating?! When are you getting engaged?! You’re engaged?! When are you getting married? When are you having babies? WHEN ARE YOU HAVING ANOTHER?!?!?!? Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh. (Mommyjacking and Daddyjacking Your Wedding, Marriage and Divorce on Facebook, via STFU Parents.)

The American system for working mothers is so broken. This article (via NYTimes) isn’t an indictment of the daycare, or of the company that the woman who wrote it works for; it’s an indictment of the fact that many women are forced into a decision that feels wrong to them, because they have no other choice. Also, please be warned: the piece is a very hard one to read.

“Gawker’s business model rewards the kind of salacious, ethically questionable stories that are particularly harmful to women in the public eye.” Accurate. (Gawker’s Other ‘Problem With Women’ Is How Gawker Treats Its Female Subjects, via Slate.)

A make magic banner from online shop glam | camp hanging in a gallery wall

Two of my favorite glam | camp products: the Make Magic banner (pictured above in my son’s bedroom along) and the Be Brave banner (which hangs in my daughter’s room. (And we’re doing free shipping through Thanksgiving with code TURKEY.)

What a gift, to be able to write about such a horrific experience with such grace. (This Woman’s Facebook Post About Pretending To Be Dead During The Paris Attacks Is Going Viral, via Buzzfeed.)

If you’re curious about the Charlie Sheen story, here it is (via NY Times). H.I.V. is an issue that is very close to my heart, and…I don’t know. It is brave to come forward and speak openly about a diagnosis, but in light of this story (via Daily Beast)…the recklessness he apparently displayed with his partners is enraging. There are so many people living openly and bravely and responsibly with this disease, and to have Charlie Sheen now be the face of it – which he will be to some extent, despite his claims that he “doesn’t want to be the poster boy” – feels like a big blow.

On a lighter note, let’s talk about cats. (25 Random Cat Behaviors Finally Explained, via SheKnows.)

I finally signed up for TheRealReal so I could check out Mia Moretti’s curated collection inspired by Thanksgiving in the countryside. (Also when you sign up you get a $50 credit emailed to you, which is nice.)

My Facebook feed REALLY thinks I want to know about that underwear that you wear instead of a tampon. I’m not sure I do, but if any of you know more about this please do tell. (In Which I Freely Endorse THINX Period Underwear, via The Toast.)

And now, here is my present to you. When you are sad, go ahead and watch this video, and you will feel better.
