The Graduate

We’ve said goodbye to our town, our friends, our house, and our families, and over the past two days – first with a sunset barbecue on the beach, and then at the graduation ceremony itself – we said goodbye to the school (and the people in it) that has become such a big part of our world these last two years.

Two years ago, I was so scared about this decision. I knew it was the right one, but making it happen still sounded so impossibly hard. And everyone told me, “Oh, it’ll go so fast. It’ll be over before you know it.” It didn’t. I mean, we made an entire human being from start to finish – a human being who is now almost a year old – while Kendrick was away.

So no, it did not go fast. But then, all of a sudden, it was over before I knew it.

And today, we’re off.

P.S. Don’t forget to follow on Instagram – I think these next couple of weeks are going to be pretty cool.

I just moved to Chicago yesterday to receive treatments for a back injury and my boyfriend of 4 years is staying in NYC to finish some projects at work. He plans to move to Chicago in a year or so. I have been feeling so lonely and heartbroken over the situation, but I know it’s the right decision for both of us as individuals and ultimately as partners. Reading this post and knowing your situation of the past two years gives me SO much hope. In fact, after reading this post, I feel more sure than ever that our plan will work. If a supermom with two children can do it, so can I. Thank you for always sharing your struggles and triumphs. I’m so happy for your family. Good luck with your next adventure!
