My mom will be so proud of this post.
Because I finally – finally! – own a practical winter jacket.
What finally broke me: the fact that the puffiness is so slimmed-down that it’s just as flattering as a less-practical style, and that it’s simultaneously classic and sort of retro-feeling. Oh: and the (faux) fur hood. That broke me, too.
And! It’s Eddie Bauer (did you know that they literally invented the down jacket? ‘Tis true), which means that it’s a really good coat, too: it keeps you warm down to 0 degrees Farenheit. Ooooo. Warm…in the winter? I can’t even imagine what that might be like (nice, I suspect).
P.S. See this flannel shirt? This is the last time it was in my possession; shortly after we took these photos it disappeared into my husband’s hands and has not been released since.

Today is the launch of Eddie Bauer’s pop-up shop on 15th Street and 5th Avenue (that’s me at last night’s launch event, hanging out with a skier), and for the next two weeks the pop-up will feature a Twitter-activated vending machine dispensing gifts, products, and discount promotions to anyone who shares on social while in the store using @eddiebauer and #liveyouradventure.
