My Looks

Happy New York Fashion Week!

If you’ve been following along here for awhile, you know that Fashion Week and me don’t really mix. Fashion Week is fun, and glamorous, and exciting…and it also stresses me out, because when it comes to getting dressed, I never feel quite right unless I look exactly like myself, and for the past few years, at least, that means feeling comfortable. And “comfortable” isn’t exactly the M.O. of Fashion Week attendees.

Is it too much to ask to look kind of great and feel kind of great?

The solution: relaxed basics that have one or two elements that are anything but ordinary – a great color, a surprising shape, an interesting fabric. Like these pants: they’re technically leggings – which means that they obviously make me very happy – but the white panels running down the sides are both flattering (they slim the leg by drawing the eye inward) and just awesome-looking (they’re perforated vegan leather).

Pants that are super cool and can be worn all day long without making me insane? Yes please.
