My hair gives me a lot of attitude in the summer, and I usually respond to that attitude by trying to let it do its own thing…and then giving up and putting it in a bun.
The autumn is a whole other story.
The fall is obviously the most fun season for clothing (motorcycle jackets! combat boots! big accessories!)…but it’s also the most fun season for hair: the cool, dry weather means that you can play around with all sorts of different ‘dos, from retro glam waves to braided updos to casual side-ponytails.
My must-have products for fall hairstyles:
– Bobby pins: Visible bobby pins are a big trend for fall; I like using slim black ones to hold back flyaways, and a couple of oversized U-shaped pins to keep updos in place (if you rough up the hair texture a bit first, two is really all you need).
– Twine or narrow leather strips: These are great for holding in place low braids and giving them a finishing touch that’s boho but still glam – just secure the braid with a clear elastic before wrapping around the twine or leather.
– Dove Style+Care Strength & Shine Flexible Hold Hairspray: Seriously, this product is amaaaazing for making styles hold still (try spraying it directly onto individual sections of hair before curling for waves that stick around forever).
– Dove Style+Care Frizz-Free Shine Cream-Serum: I use this every morning, and also carry around a bottle in my bag in case I want to spruce up my hair midday; it smooths flyaways without weighing hair down and makes my hair feel lovely and nourished.
– Dove Refresh+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo: Fall is busy, and busy often means no time for blow-dryers…and also, heat-styling my hair as infrequently as possible is one of the best ways I’ve found to keep it looking and feeling healthy.
– Hats! So many hats.
