Weekend Snapshots: Come On, Christmas Edition

Our weekend started on Friday afternoon, with one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen (that’s Kendrick playing carols for the kids at the Y).

After some fortification in donut form, we gave Santa another go.

It worked just about as well as it did last time. (See that move? That’s what Kendrick and I call ‘The Jailbreak’.)

We arrived home to find a delivery of a couple of early Christmas presents (Pana Paws customized dog collars) for our two other kids…

And I made a kind of improvisational carbonara using whatever I found in our refrigerator. (It was OK. The real recipe is way better.)

On Saturday morning we hit up our local diner, ate French toast, and got toy motorcycles from the owner…

And I retreated to the attic to get a few things done.

After one of us enjoyed a relaxing, leisurely nap while the taller people in the house frantically took care of ten thousand Chritsmas-related errands, we headed to Nyack for lunch. Look at that architecture! I’m not even a ‘snap pictures of random houses’ kind of person, but I actually got out of the car in thirty-degree weather for that one.

Where we had lunch: La Fontana. The food and general festiveness were pretty amazing.

Kendrick’s decision-making process with regards to napkins was slightly less so.

My favorite stop in Nyack: a Christmas Store that I believe is called “Christmas Store”, but I can’t be certain. It should be, if it isn’t.

Now, ornaments are expensive in a completely confusing and kind of ludicrous way, but still: I think it’s nice to pick up just one new one every year.

And when we saw this guy, it seemed pretty obvious that he would be coming home with us.
