Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

So far tonight:

We (or, rather: me) got all dressed up for the holiday…

Headed down to Main Street for the children’s service (noise and general disobedience permitted) at church…

Watched a (very) reluctant little angel roam the aisles…

Stopped over at our friend’s house for a little merry-making…

And returned home for the very most important part: reading The Night Before Christmas next to the tree.

Now I’m stuffing stockings, drinking champagne, making engagement chickens, and watching the snow fall in our yard. And mostly thinking just how magical this year has been.

It’s a White Christmas. I almost can’t believe it.

This year has been a gift, from start to finish. I don’t know that I’d call myself a religious person, and I don’t often use words like “blessing”…but this new life that we’ve discovered? That we’ve built?

The word “blessing” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Lots of love to each and every one of you; here’s to a new year full of warmth and brightness.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
