When one doesn’t really go out all that much, and then suddenly one does get to go out – like on, say, a date night with one’s husband where canoodling (!) may occur – it’s fun to…you know…dress-up.
And when I dress up, I always like to go just a little bit overboard. LBD and subtly elegant extras? I don’t think so. Not now. Not today.
Why? Because it’s fun to wear animal print…and glamorous, poofy faux-fur boleros…and chiffon bows…and gold sparkle…all at the same time.
Just fun. That’s all.
You may recognize this Jones New York jacket from the shoot I did for them over at the Conde Nast studios a couple of months back.
Related: On Thursday, November 29, I’ll be joining JNY, InStyle, and Hal Rubenstein (InStyle‘s Editor-At-Large) at Bloomingdale’s for an event celebrating the 2012 Holiday collections. Champagne, hors d’oeuvres, music, and gifts-with-purchase will be present.
More info to come!
This thing is so cozy. I’ve actually taken to cuddling up with it on the couch while watching TV, which looks totally Grey Gardens-style crazy and is deeply confusing to my husband, but I love it, and I don’t care.
Moving on: if you don’t yet own a pair of leopard pumps, I’m going to insist that you pick some up (right now, I like no platform, pointy toe, medium heel). Until I owned these, I didn’t realize quite how essential they’d be…and honestly, I wear them with everything.
And here’s my 100%-over-the-top and also (I think) amazing Lena Erziak purse, won in a raffle awhile back. Lately, I’ve taken to carrying the thing around town during daylight hours, paired with nothing fancier than jeans and a sweater.
And clothing should be fun.
Like I said: I always want to be the girl wearing the faux fur poof at the party.
On me: Jones New York faux fur bolero, Lulu’s dress (similar here), Nine West pumps, Juicy Couture sunglasses, Lena Erziak purse, Hanes Convert-A-Tight Blackout Tights, earrings c/o C. Wonder, necklace c/o Giles And Brother, Timex watch, Lipstick Queen lipstick in Saint Red.
