Whirlwind Richmond Tours And Hummus

Whew!

I’m back. (Kendrick said that I came into the house “like an angry bull” last night…which, in my defense: there were delays on both of my flights, I had eaten exactly one bag of Doritos in nine hours, and it was four hours from the time when I knew I would be getting right back up again with our son. But yep, that’s a pretty apt descriptor, considering that I charged into the house and face-planted directly into our bed while simultaneously screaming out random things like “I think you broke the radiator and where are my perfume bottles”.)

Anyway, I spent the past 24 hours or so in Richmond with the team from Sabra (the hummus company – which, FYI, has expanded into other products, including salsa, guacamole, and delicious Greek Yogurt-based things).

Activities included the following:

– A factory tour (I’ve never been in a factory before, so it was fascinating, and I was a pretty big fan of those stylin’ toe caps)

– The opportunity to try straight-off-the-factory-line hummus (YUM)

– A “Spice Adventure” with Spice Station (I discovered that I really like something called sumac, which is sort of sour/salty, and would be amazing on chicken or in salads)

– A taste-testing of various Sabra products (highly recommended: the Luscious Lemon flavor, which isn’t available in too many markets but really should be, the much-easier-to-find Greek Olive flavor, and the Cucumber and Dill Greek Yogurt Dip)

– A food photography lesson (more on this coming right up!)

Thank you so much to Sabra for having me! And thanks to Spice Station and Smith Bites for the informative (and fun!) lessons.
