When Tired Eyes Are Smiling

Last night was a late one – I hosted an event at Macy’s and then got dinner with Mom – and this morning is an early one, so I figured hey, I’ll just spend the night here, get a decent amount of rest, and be all fresh and perky for the day.

Wrong.

As it turns out, city air does not agree with me, because my insomnia has pretty much disappeared since our move…but last night was the single worst bout I have ever had, ever. No joke: not one single minute of sleep between 11:44PM (44 minutes after I hit the pillow) and 6:15AM (when I gave up and turned on the computer to start working).

But this post is not about whining: this post is about solutions!

Because wandering around all day feeling like a zombie is one thing, but I’d rather not look like one, as well.

I don’t usually like the highlighter-in-the-corners-of-the-eyes trick to brighten and open them up mostly because I feel like if you apply it wrong (which is easy to do) it looks kind of obvious (which defeats the purpose). But lately I’ve been using Bobbi Brown’s Glitter Liquid Eyeliner in Silver (pictured above in Gold) on the inner corners of my eyes, and I love it. It’s definitely glittery rather than shimmery, so the effect is dramatic enough to look like a statement as opposed to a trick (but still subtle enough not to be ridiculous), and it actually does seem to make a huge difference in terms of looking awake.

But hey, it’s not everyone’s style to wear silver glitter during the day, so if you prefer to go subtler try it during the approaching (!) holiday season – if you rim the entire lower lid with the stuff, it’s a dramatic, gorgeous evening look.

P.S. I have no idea if this post was even written in English, I’m so tired. Do a girl a favor and let me know if what I just wrote made zero sense?
