New Year’s Eve / Little Black Dress

Q. Hey Jordan!

I have a kick-ass little black dress and am going out on New Year’s with my best friend and his band. I want to “rock” out this dress just a little bit (the guys always look awesome and rock ‘n’ roll-ish), which I think could be easy because it has a [visible] brass zipper up the back. I also have a peacock hair piece I would really like to wear if I can make it work.

Do you have any suggestions for shoes, accessories and whatnot?

A. Just because you’ve decided to spend New Year’s Eve in your trusty little black dress doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with it. That’s the best thing about an LBD: the styling options are endless. You can go all Audrey, with demure studs, an updo, and pretty heels…or you can wear, you know…

marabou.

Personally, I’d do marabou.

Since you’ve decided to go rocker-chic, here are two of my favorite styling options:

Both are Studio 54-inspired, but one is a bit wilder, with pink and feathers, while the other creates a sleeker, more mod vibe. I’m sorta partial to the look on the right paired with the gold stilettos…and just FYI, that blazer is cheap. Also British, but hey, they deliver.

Whatever look you choose, go big with your shoes – think gold, leopard, or a startling emerald green.
