Q. Hey J,
I need to get some people I don’t know very well a baby gift, and don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl. Since you’re in the baby-gift mix, do you have a suggestion for something that’s say, $60?
A. My first recommendation would be to try to figure out if they have a registry - try searching for their last name on Babies ‘R’ Us, Buy Buy Baby first; these are the most popular registries. People can be very specific about the brands they choose for their baby and the style they choose for their decor, and that way you can avoid getting them duplicates of anything they may have already registered for. If they don’t have one, a nice idea is to put together a themed basket with a bunch of small presents in it.
If you’d like to include something for Mom: Beautannia Brideshead Bath Oil.
If you’d like to include something for Mom: Cadbury Drinking Chocolate.
Toy Basket: I’d suggest some Dwell Studio stacking rings plus a Vulli Sophie Giraffe, or a selection of Eric Carle products (he’s the guy who wrote The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and there are a whole bunch of toys based on the line that just came out and are adorable).
If you’d like to include something for Mom: A DVD of a pregnancy-themed movie (Look Who’s Talking?) and some microwave popcorn.
Cozy Basket: Include any combo of aden + anais products – $60 will get you a set of muslin swaddling blankets and either a sleep sack or a couple of burpy bibs, and the Mod Turtle and Safari prints are gender-neutral, as a bonus.
If you’d like to include something for Mom: Ugg slippers.
