If Pebbles Flintstone Were 90 Years Old And Crazy

Man, do I ever wish you could have seen Kendrick’s face last night when he walked through the door and found me puttering around the kitchen cooking dinner and wearing this:

It was equal parts “Yes, honey, you are very cute” and “Have you gone completely insane?” mixed with a healthy dash of terror about the direction in which his wife’s around-the-house attire seems to be headed (and that direction would be: paddling rapidly away from the warm banks of Victoria’s Secret towards Crazy Old Lady in Housedress Lake). I added the long beaded necklace just to hammer that one home.

I don’t know whether it’s a nightgown or a dress (I actually suspect the latter, because it was originally $65 – it’s on sale at the moment for $29), but I don’t care: I want to wear it all the time. Why? I’ll tell you: sparkles. And polka dots. And a mysterious one-eyed creature that simultaneously reminds me of Lucy and an Angry Bird.

I found it yesterday when I randomly walked by a store called Irregular Choice (down on Lafayette) that instantly became my new obsession: you have GOT to see the shoes they have for sale in this place. It’s a London-based company – obviously – and the designer’s parents are both old-school cobblers, so while the styles are totally off-the-wall, you can definitely see the influence of traditional workmanship.

The shoes range from 100% crazypants

To cute and wearable

With plenty of stuff that I love in between (these Lucite-heeled sparkle boots also come in black, red and silver, and I really may have to buy a pair).

And a little special mention for their ponchos and tunics:

The major problem with this store is that you can’t buy it all – just one piece this wild is probably all my wardrobe could take – but…but…how do you pick?
