Nothing more fun than shopping your mom’s closet…especially when your mom has a penchant for red polka-dot minidresses, too.
After dinner last week, Mom went rooting through her wardrobe in search of summery hand-me-downs, and came out with this gorgeous thing. I love it love it love it because it’s a) red, b) polka-dotted, and c) multitalented: you can wear it loose, cinched with a belt (I just used a vintage scarf*), with a jean jacket and flats for day, or with an updo and piled-on jewelry for night.
It’s hard to get me out of these sandals lately – beyond being incredibly comfortable, they go with absolutely everything. Even more versatile, in my opinion, than black, because they can so easily be dressed up for evening.
I recently had a reader ask me what kinds of undergarments I wear with light, floaty dresses, and these breezy-rooftop shots show why my answer is: hipster shorts. Always. Like these. In case of an unforseen subway draft (what is up with the gale-force winds that come rocketing through the stairwells?), it’d be embarrassing, oh yes…but not devastating.
And on top, I go for an excellent strapless bra for anything one-shouldered or spaghetti-strapped. I’m all for inexpensive underthings, but when it comes to strapless bras, I think that quality matters. I adore adore adore the Wacoal Silver Halo Lace Convertible Strapless and think that everyone should own it; it’s just that great.
On me: No-name sunglasses; vintage & DKNY necklaces, vintage scarf (as belt), Rebecca Minkoff MAC Clutch, DVF flat sandals, Mom’s dress.
