Ann Taylor & Quiksilver Spring Lines

Ann Taylor is stepping it up in a big way lately, especially when it comes to casual staples and accessories; their jewelry department, for me, is veering into J.Crew/Banana Republic territory in terms of being a go-to spot for a not-too-expensive statement piece.

They’ve always been a bit – or, OK, a lot – conservative for my taste, but when I went to the Ann Taylor Summer Preview in January I was stunned by some of the pieces I saw (especially that relaxed cream linen suit and the art deco-inspired jewelry – click through for images). And that necklace that I went home with (you can see it here)? I cannot take three steps while wearing it without someone stopping me to ask where I found it.

The spring line, which is in stores now, isn’t quiiite on the level of the summer stuff (I’ll post more on the summer collection when it hits stores), but there are some very covetable pieces nevertheless.

This was my favorite head-to-toe look: so relaxed and comfortable for the office, and I love the layered vest and deco necklace (which isn’t online, but is in stores right now).

More favorite spring pieces:

Ivy Covered Platform; Metallic PulloverBurnished Treasure Necklace

Next up: Quiksilver. The event spotlighted their new line for women, which is very young, and very beachy…but sometimes you are young. And go to the beach.

Loved this thing (perfect for when the temperature drops after a long day in the sun, and it’s actually called a “Bonfire Poncho,” which makes me want it more):

And this blazer (didn’t love the styling, but picture it with a white tee, jeans and gold jewelry):

And obviously this backpack (I might actually just go ahead and buy it just so I can stop talking about wanting a backpack; debating between this one and one of Urban’s options):

More favorite items:

Echo Check Shorts; Riptide DressIconic String Bikini (2 pieces)

Oh, and here’s what I wore all around town:

Gap cardigan (similar to this one), Urban Outfitters tank (in stores now), Seven jeans, Steve Madden Roady boots. So comfortable.
