One Blouse, Two Ways: Weekday

This is my version of What To Wear When One Wants To Look Semi-Professional.

Which isn’t a look that I do particularly well, being as 1) my closet is heavy on the jeans and tees and light on the slacks and blazers, and 2) my hair stubbornly refuses to ever look pulled-together without the assistance of someone whose business is tresses. Plus I sneeze a lot, and trip over nothing whatsoever, and I always have eyelashes falling into my eyeballs and making me crazy, and all of these things are decidedly inelegant.

What can I say? Disheveled is my thing, and clothing that actually fits gets in the way of all that.

But luckily, in my line of business this is pretty much as professional-looking as I ever have to get, and I think the outfit would work well for Casual Fridays in most offices.

(How beautiful is the sky in these shots?)

All this really is is a gorgeous cotton/silk button-down that was sent to me by AOL Stylelist to celebrate our new partnership and new sponsor, DVF (I know: !!!!), and trouser-style jeans, dressed up with a ton of hardware and some ridiculous sunglasses (the best kind, really). About 90% of the jewelry pictured is vintage or handmade – I particularly love that chain-link collar necklace, which Kendrick picked up for me from a street vendor a couple of years ago.

The belt is my Gerard Yosca pearl-and-crystal necklace (tied loosely so that it dips down between the belt loops), which I also like wearing as a bracelet

Back to the blouse: it’s from DVF’s Diane line, a collection of archive vintage prints re-issued in classic styles (that are, as a happy little aside, more reasonably priced than most DVF stuff).

On me:

Diane Vintage Collection Risi Top in Camo Small c/o DVF; Paige Denim Robertson Wide-Leg Jeans ($33 on Peppermint Park; use code RSG for 2 months’ free membership); Proenza Schouler sunglasses; vintage & handmade jewelry; Gerard Yosca necklace worn as belt; Jessica Simpson Sabina platforms in Luggage.
