How-To: Reese’s Oscar Ponytail

Yesterday, if you recall, I went on about how much I adored Reese’s Oscars hair and makeup…

…and today a PR blast from Fekkai (who styled her) about how to get the look landed in my inbox! Here you go:

HOW-TO: REESE’S OSCAR PONYTAIL

1) Create the foundation for the style by applying Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel and the Fekkai Silky Straight Ironless Smooth Finish Serum.

2) Blow-dry hair with a large round brush to enhance fullness and volume.

3) Divide the hair into two sections.

4) Using a 1 ½” curling iron, create movement and volume on the bottom layer.

5) Tease the roots of the top section to create the volume. Pull hair into high ponytail and secure with tie.

6) Finish the look by spraying Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray to secure the silhouette and shape of the style.

UPDATE: Nina wanted to know how they hid the hairtie. My guess would be the old wrap-a-piece-of-hair-around-the-tie-and-secure-underneath-with-pin trick…but one of my personal favorite ways to hide a hairtie with a high pony is to use bobby pins to affix a vintage brooch at the base (just slide the pins through the space created by the clasp and secure to slightly teased hair).
