Beef & Beer Decor Ideas

Q. Hi Jordan! I know I’ve seen you post ideas about wedding decor and centerpieces before, however I am looking for something inexpensive for a Beef & Beer that my family and I are holding. The event is in honor of my mom who passed away last February. All proceeds will be going toward St. Jude Children’s Hospital since it was a charity she dearly loved and believed in. I know you always have some fun and cute ideas and wanted to know if you had any for this event.

Thanks in advance!

Katie

A. Hey there Katie,

I would love to help you out. A few ideas for you:

– Put a dandelion puff in a small antique bottle at each place-setting and encourage guests to share a memory or make a wish before the meal (image at left via).

– If you’re cooking with beer, cut the tops off of the beer cans with a can opener to make little DIY votive candle holders (be careful of the sharp edges when placing the candles inside).

– For beautiful DIY napkin rings, tie a piece of twine around each napkin and tuck in a feather (you can buy bags of them at craft stores).

– Use brown paper for place mats and set out votive holders filled with crayons so that guests can make drawings to either take home or give to a child.

– Core some seasonal produce (apples work well; you can see some I made in the bottom image of this link) to use as candlestick holders. If you do this, make sure to cut a thin slice off of the bottom of the fruit, as well, so it’s stable.

– If you’re making menus, try these rustic DIY menu holders.

– If you’re using place cards, how about wrapping a bit of brown paper around each beer mug with some twine and writing the guests’ names and table numbers on them? Your guests can carry their mugs to their seats and use them for the rest of the night (and if you pick up inexpensive ones, they can even serve as favors).
