Today’s Soup Shoot

I was up bright and early with the kids this morning (oh, 5AM, hello), so by the time Francesca stopped by at 9:30 to drop off a Lolly sweater for me to wear in the spread I shot for Japanese fashion mag Soup, I was good and ready for some caffeine (thank you Francesca for the Starbucks love you much).

First, I need to show you the Mulberry bag she won in a contest (!):

Swoon. That pattern is from last season, but they still make the Alexa style.

Now, here’s the sweater Lolly loaned me for the shoot (I went up a couple of sizes and wore it as a dress):

Cute, right?

Anyway, here are the first two looks we shot:

On the left, that’s an H&M sweater (worn as a dress; in stores right now), Hue tights, and Jessica Simpson shoes (the latter two items ended up getting worn in every shot of the day, because we were super rushed on time and most of the shots were waist-up). Unfortunately you can’t really see what I wore in the second shot, but it’s an H&M denim button-down over the Lolly sweater.

After shooting around the apartment for a bit, we headed outside to get Lucy and Virgil involved. Man, do I ever love that Talbots cape. I know I’m sort of overdoing it with the H&M mentions these days, but I’m really liking their stuff lately…and yesterday I stopped in and discovered that they have a little cape that looks very similar to mine.

I even took a picture for you:

Hm. I think capes might be one of those items of clothing that just look a whole lot better on. But it’s cute, I swear!
