Beachy Hair

I have been completely thrilled with the way my hair has behaved while in Mexico and San Diego. I’m not one of those people who handles extremely warm weather with tousled, adorable abandon – I’m more of a frizzy disaster, usually – but my Keratin treatment has pretty much solved…oh, I don’t know: EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM I’ve ever had with my hair. In the photo at left, my hair is 100% air-dried in hot, humid Cancun conditions (and after a dip in the pool), and, while perhaps not red-carpet-ready, it is (I think) respectably cute. I also hit up a steam room while at the Park Royal Grand, and emerged looking nothing like the poofy mess that I would have looked like pre-treatment. It’s like tiny angels have alighted on my locks and kissed them back to health.

If you’re trying to deal with frizz on the beach, here’s an easy way to dress up your ‘do while getting those pesky, lip gloss-ensnaring strands out of your face: just pull hair back into a low ponytail and secure with several (preferably brightly colored) elastics, working your way down your hair from the nape of the neck and leaving an inch or so free at the end. Wrap it all up into a low bun, and secure with a bobby pin or two.
