Wednesday Night (Two Days Later)

You may have noticed that I handed the reins over to a few talented contributors yesterday, as I was bustling away over at The Gloss. Hence: only getting to my very lovely Wednesday night on Friday morning. (Happy Friday, by the way!)

First stop: Kashkaval Cheese Market & Wine Bar, where I met Neha for a little wine and a lot of tzatziki (or maybe it was the reverse…?). I was getting dinner with my mom and Kendrick immediately afterwards, but tzatziki is not something I can resist, and Kashkaval’s is up there with the best of ’em: super chunky…and served with a pickle, which is always a good thing. (Go HERE to learn how to make your own tzatziki; it couldn’t be easier.)

After dinner at Uncle Nick’s, Kendrick and I meandered up 9th Avenue reminiscing about the good old days (go HERE for my top Hell’s Kitchen restaurant picks), and came upon a new addition to the neighborhood: Holey Cream, on 53rd and 9th. We didn’t order anything (stuffed from dinner, sadly)…but please, please: somebody go and report back!

It’s basically a decorate-your-own-doughnut (fun!) place with a twist: if you request a Donut Ice Cream Sandwich they’ll slice your creation in half and spoon some ice cream into the middle. And the place serves only Dreesen’s doughnuts (some Hamptons-based brand that I’ve never heard of but is apparently quite famous and wonderful) and Sedutto ice cream (apparently the chocolate peanut butter chip hard-packed yogurt is the top seller). Oh my goodness.
