My Top Three Cologne Picks For Guys

Ever since the eighth grade, when CKOne was quite the thing, I’ve loved cologne on a man. Not too much, mind you – we’ve all encountered that dude on the subway who seems to have bathed in Cool Water – but I think there’s nothing sexier than getting closer to a guy only to discover that he’s put in a little extra effort…just for you. Here are my top picks for men’s fragrances:

John Varvatos Artisan

OK, mostly I love the bottle. Seriously, how cool-looking is that thing? I also, however, love how citrusy and bright the fragrance is, with notes of orange blossom, tangerine, and a touch of amber. A perfect daytime scent for a sporty – and yet stylish – city boy. And once he’s made his way through the bottle, I think it’d make a nifty flask. Just sayin’.

Calvin Klein Man

I bought this fragrance for Kendrick about a year ago, and it’s still the one he wears most often. The name is a little eye-rollingly hyper-masculine, but the scent itself is completely intoxicating: classic and woodsy, with cedar, patchouli, and sandalwood. It literally makes me want to bury my face in his neck and stay there for hours…which is probably exactly the response that he’s hoping for when he breaks out the bottle.

Bond No. 9 Gramercy Park

I think there’s nothing sexier than a fragrance that you and your guy can share, and I would absolutely appropriate this clean, leafy scent if it showed up on Kendrick’s nightstand. With notes of ivy heart, minty greens and white muguet, it’s sheer, light, and perfect for summer. (It’s also a kind of cute, unique idea to give a couple with similar taste a single bottle of gorgeous perfume to share.)
