Cote de Bouef

So we ordered the côte de boeuf for two (illicit picture above). And…um….meh. I mean…it was really good. Really, really good. But deserving of Bruni’s level of praise? My medium felt more like medium-rare to me, and there was way too much fat for my liking, but I suppose some people demand that their $100 meat be heavily marbled. It was also a huge, huge plate of food – half of it is presently sitting in our refrigerator.

The roasted marrow bone (only my second time ever eating marrow) was awesome, although I would recommend requesting bread to spread it on, as the taste is pretty overwhelming all by itself, and the texture is extremely odd if you’re not used to it. The cheese potatoes – highly recommended by our friendly and knowledgeable server – were unbelievable. She explained that they make them by whipping cow’s milk cheese into the pureed potatoes until the right consistency (extremely thick and stringy) is achieved.
